“Tom has done two major projects in my Manhattan apartment. The first, done 24 years ago, is a trompe d'oeil tent painted in the library. The effect of a tented ceiling is so striking that after all these years I can momentarily be fooled into thinking the flat ceiling is billowing fabric. The room still looks wonderful because Tom has come back to touch it up and maintain it when we have made changes to the architecture of the room. The second project was undertaken last summer. I showed Tom a photograph of a garden in Morocco viewed from the interior of a palace. Tom painted this as a mural on my living room wall, adapting it so that it fit into the architecture and proportions of my actual room. Friends are hard pressed to see where the room leaves off and the mural begins. Tom's work is wonderful, and he is a very easy person to work with.”
